Lilium growing tips
Available each year with Summer Flowering bulbs and perennials from June till September
Liliums like to have " warm heads and cool feet ". To achieve this plant your Lilium bulbs between low growing plants & shrubs in mixed borders. When planting in to pots allow 1 bulb for a 150mm (6inch) pot or 2 for a 175mm (7 inch) pot. Liliums prefer a slightly acid soil that is well drained.

Enrich prepared soil with well rotted compost  and a complete fertiliser. Find a position in the garden sheltered from the wind  that receives half day to full sun. Plant between April and August in to moist soil 10cm deep and allowing 15 to 20cm apart. Keep the bulbs cool after planting by using a layer of compost / mulch. Leave the liliums in the ground for years, maintaining moisture while they are actively growing. Topdress the area each autumn and spring with a complete fertilser.
